Summit of the Americas: U.S. wants Bolsonaro’s name on pro-democracy letter aimed at Brazilian elections

The US has been sending signals to the Brazilian government that show concern about Bolsonaro’s onslaughts against the electoral system. However, for the Secretary for the Americas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Pedro Miguel da Costa e Silva, “Brazil is not on the list of countries that have problems with electoral missions.”

“Brazil is participating from the beginning of the negotiating process in a constructive and open spirit. This declaration [on democracy and human rights] does not pose any problem for Brazil, because the country complies with everything that is there and actively participates in and supports the electoral observation missions of the Organization of American States [OAS],” said the ambassador quoted by the media.
