Twitter announces a package of specific measures for elections in Brazil

The social network decided to launch some initiatives aimed at protecting the debate during the presidential campaigns and the Brazilian elections this Monday (4).

Under the new rules, the platform will use tags to identify candidate profiles and will curate posts with reliable information in the Moments feature, which will have a special section on elections, according to Folha de São Paulo.

Twitter will also be able to flag and reduce the visibility of tweets that encourage users not to vote or mislead voters during the process.

The measures are not new and were implemented in the 2020 elections in the U.S., however, the arrival of the new features in Brazil is the result of the platform’s adherence to the Program to Combat Disinformation from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).
