White House warns India over ‘Right side of History’ – as Delhi seeks Russian oil deal

After admitting New Delhi’s potential oil deal with Russia would not be violating US sanctions, White House spox Jen Psaki urged India to consider where it wants to stand “when history books are written”.

“Our message to any country continues to be ‘abide by the sanctions that we have put in place and recommended’,” she added, echoing Congressman Ami Bera who insisted “India has a responsibility to ensure its actions do not directly or indirectly support Putin.
